Concerts

Lynda Poston-SmithWhether standing in front of a full orchestra, beside a grand piano, or behind a single microphone, Lynda’s rich soprano voice soars. The breadth of Lynda Poston-Smith’s performances is enormous: the title role in a Handel opera, the soprano solo in a Gorecki symphony, an art song recital, a concert of sacred literature, or an evening of music from the 1930s. Her singing is always marked by radiant tone, flawless interpretation, and a rapport and communication that delights and transports the audience.

Her recitals are an art form in themselves and she performs them with an ease and grace that comes from years of scholarship and exploration.

Lynda’s singing is equally matched by her ability to design beautiful, cohesive, entertaining programs which are always spot-on appropriate to the situation, venue and performers available. These programs often involve collaboration with her pianist husband Robert Smith. Together, they have given recitals in Fulda and Munich, Germany; Croydon and London, England; and across the United States in some 42 different colleges and universities, seminaries, churches and piano teacher organizations.

Song recital “Love Found, Lost,…and Found Again! “- 2012 Voces Intimae Concert Series

The concert was woven as a story, carrying us through the happy, playful, sad, hurt times, and finally the reconciliation. Every word and every tone was sculpted to bring all of the audience into her journey. Lynda’s voice is amazingly flexible in all ranges and dynamics. I could FEEL the buildup in MYSELF through the music and text. What a gift for all of the audience! The strength and passion was splendid – facile with every turn of the phrase. This concert of songs is the highest quality I have ever heard. The story was woven into every second.

Church Piano Dedication Recital

Lynda Poston-Smith offers breath-taking and magnificent talent and artistry in singing. She also possesses the unique gift to program a concert or recital with just the right mix of repertoire, embracing the audience in a warmth of music that is captivating.

Robert C. Smith brings solo keyboard virtuosity, depth of feeling, and variety of repertoire that is artful and elegant in every setting, but also provides a captivating counterpoint to Lynda as an accompanist.

The Arborlawn people are still talking about the Smiths’ concert to dedicate our new sanctuary. From old hymns to the classics (with a little Berlin on the side!), don’t miss booking them for any occasion. We’ll have them back!
